Our Process

Exporting Livestock with Confidence

The live export process

Step 01

Initial Consultation

We start with a detailed discussion to understand your needs and explain a little about Australian livestock breeds and production systems. This includes livestock specifications, quantity, timing, logistics and how this might affect cost and quality.

At different times of the year(or in different years), the specifications, types and volumes of what we can supply may change to reflect the season, climate, market and availability of suitable stock for export. We’re not just quoting — we’re advising on what is possible what will work best for your operation and circumstances.

When we understand your needs and expectations, we’ll take some time to review all costs and logistics and come back with a proposal summarising specifications, costs, and payment and delivery terms. We’ll also including some examples of the type of livestock we are agreeing to deliver.

Pricing and terms are valid for 14 days, giving you time to review with clarity, not pressure.

Step 02

Contract Agreement

Once specifications and volumes are agreed upon, we provide a comprehensive contract setting out the details of our agreement and obligations of each party.

Both parties sign it before any work begins. This guarantees transparency and mutual accountability, setting the tone for a smooth, predictable export experience. The contract sets out specifics of things such as specifications, terms, timing, insurance, claims and general terms you would expect to give security and peace of mind to both parties in an important and valuable purchase.

Step 03

Pro Forma Invoice

When the contract is signed, we issue a proforma invoice based on the agreed terms volumes and pricing. Early payment secures your livestock order and enables us to begin procurement immediately.

Our livestock are highly sought after and the export process is complex and heavily regulated in Australia. We spend a lot of time with our breeders to nominate and select top quality livestock. This upfront step ensures that the livestock can be set aside for you and keeps the timeline intact and avoids delays later in the process.

Step 04

Import Permits

Most importing countries will require the importer to apply for an import permit before they will be allowed to import livestock. The process around this varies in time and complexity from country to country. Sometimes it is a quick online administrative process, and in other locations and times, it can take several weeks to secure a permit.

These permits usually include critical information about the species, type and volume of livestock that are allowed to be importeda nd any special conditions regarding the sourcing, preparation and transport ofthe animals. We require this before starting any selection as there may beconditions that determine the eligibility of livestock or a property or regionwe source from.

Sometimes special dispensation letters may also be required by the Australian government to clarify or explain conditions on the permit, or allow animals to be loaded together with another consignment etc.

Having correct paperwork early ensures there are nodelays with selection and the approval of quarantine, export permits and HealthCertificates in Australia. It also ensures that customs clearance and postarrival quarantine can be managed swiftly upon arrival.

Step 05

Livestock Procurement Begins

With everything in place, we start sourcing your animals from our trusted breeding farm network.

This starts with sending a request for nominations to suitable breeders detailing our agreed specifications and any importing country health and preparation requirements.

The creation of superior quality livestock often starts years before we even start talking. It starts with informed breeding decisions and management strategies that are designed to optimise fertility, growth and production. Our partners are handpicked for their superior livestock, commitment to animal health and best practice management.

We don’t just deliver animals — we deliver the right animals for your conditions.

Step 06

Selection and On Farm Testing(if required)

Selection is where our standards shine. We consider genetics(genotype), physical traits(phenotype), season, and environmental adaptability. Over roughly two weeks, we evaluate animals for health, performance, and temperament. Each is handpicked with your needs and the long term success of your investment, in mind.

Selection timing and length will depend on the nature and complexity of the order. Often we are travelling and selecting animals across an area of thousands of kilometres to ensure the quality is right. If more time is needed, we discuss this with you to ensure that only the strongest, healthiest animals proceed to export.

Step 07

Quarantine Transfer

Once all animals have been selected, animals move to our government-approved quarantine facilities. This phase is essential to meet all animal health and biosecurity requirements that are required to meet the Veterinary Health Certificate requirement of the importing country. It also helps animals to socialise, adapt to handling and reduce stress before transit.

Step 08

Vet Checks, Testing & Vaccination

While in quarantine, animals receive thorough veterinary inspections, and we undertake and administer any required testing, treatments, and vaccinations.

This isn’t just about compliance—it’s about optimising health and readiness for travel so they are set up to acclimatise after arrival and avoiding issues on your end.

Step 09

Final Payment

When all animals are delivered and confirmed ready in quarantine, the remaining balance is paid allowing final confirmation of the air freight and government export booking. This confirms your shipment and allows us to finalise transport logistics.

It’s the green light for dispatch.

All our shipments are delivered on CIP(Carriage and Insurance Paid) to the destination airport. So, although we expect our process avoids any issues, you have peace of mind that your investment is insured through to delivery.

Step 10

Final Government Vet Inspectioncs & Delivery

Before departure, a government-accredited veterinarian performs a final inspection and any final treatments before signing off on their readiness for export. Only livestock that meet every requirement of the strict Australian and importing country requirements, get the official tick of approval for export.

This gives you — and your authorities — complete confidence in the shipment’s quality.

Step 11

Livestock Delivery

We then coordinate the transport of your livestock to the agreed port or airport. Animals are loaded and transported under strict handling protocols to ensure minimal stress and readiness for travel.

We ensure your animals arrive in peak condition, whether by air or sea.

Step 12

Import Agent Coordination

About 48 hours prior to shipment we send you draft shipping documents for you and your import agent to check and advise any changes or updates to ensure smooth clearance and delivery. These might include drafts of the:

  • Air Waybill

  • Health Certificate

  • Commercial Invoice

  • Certificate of Origin

Fast clearance is crucial. It prevents unnecessary delays so the animals can quickly move to their farm or quarantine and recover quickly from their long journey. Before the shipment lands, ensure your import agent has:

  • All required permits

  • The full set of release documents

  • Arranged for swift customs clearance

  • Arranged any post arrival quarantine or transit permits

A quick, smooth release minimises risk and improves longevity and productivity on your farm.
